4 Tips For More Effective Article Marketing

 

Article marketing is hands down on of the best ways to get targeted,

ready-to-buy traffic to your website. Not everyone has success with article marketing,

however. In this article, we’re going to look at what separates winning article

marketing strategies from ones that don’t work out as well. Here are four tips

you can use to take your article marketing right to the bank!

 

Tip 1: Write your articles like sales letters. Now, you don’t want it to sound like a

late-night infomercial, but you do need to understand that your article is more

than just information. Your goal is to get the reader to click on your link, either in

the article body or in your bio box.

 

Tip 2: Write a headline that arouses curiosity and makes people want to read

your article. In general, readers find your articles via a search engine search.

In other words, when they decide if they want to read your article, they can’t

see the whole thing. They just see a headline and also a description.

You want your headline to be a call to action. Something that’s going to interest people.

 

Tip 3: Make your articles at least 400 words long. If you want to publish your

article on a lot of article directories (and you should), it needs to be at least

400 words long. A lot of directories don’t publish articles that are shorter.

 

This makes total sense. A directory makes money through traffic.

They want readers to feel like they learned something, or at least made their lives better,

by reading their articles. An article that’s less than 400 words just seems a little unsubstantial.

 

Tip 4: Make your bio box look like it’s part of the article.

At the end of an ezine style article, there’s an author’s bio box.

Although you can try to put links back to your website in the body of the article,

not all directories allow that. The place to put your link is in the bio box.

 

Don’t think of the bio box like it’s an afterthought for your reader.

Your bio box needs to fulfill the same function that a call to action

does on a sales letter. This is so important, let’s spend some more time on it.

Okay, that was meant to be funny. But really, Looked at from your

reader’s point of view. They are interested in themselves, not you.

Unless you’re the inventor of the South Beach diet or someone with

as much authority in your given niche, who you are and what

you’ve done is secondary. Use text links in your resource box with a call to action,

and the links leading to your site. A free presentation or gift for their information via a

reveal tab builds your list and prospects for ongoing marketing.

Online press release distribution is an easy go-to activity for any site needing a quick profile boost and guaranteed link backs. Identifying a suitable topic and then writing a release that conveys the news in a professional, engaging manner is often the most difficult part – it is a skill and one often littered with failed attempts before the perfect formula clicks. Having done the hard work and mastered online news releases, it’s important that the outlets you select for distribution do your PR justice.

There are lots of paid press release distribution networks to be found online, but if online PR becomes a regular activity for your business, the cost of these subscription services may well be prohibitive. Fortunately, there are lots of decent free newswires that you can take advantage of. These are sites that were recommended to me.

1. Free Press Index (www.freepressindex.com)

User-friendly and the quick sign-up form is followed by an easy-to-use interface for press release submission. The member area makes it easy to keep track of submitted releases and the formatting options are very similar to most word processing packages, so it is easy to retain style settings within the document text. Only one link per release is allowed, but you can also include a non-hyperlinked web address in the footer. Rankings for members also make it easy to see how popular your submissions are and how many times your profile has been viewed.

2. News Reel Network (www.newsreelnetwork.com)

Driven by a WordPress CMS system, most will find News Reel Network’s submission process to be pain free. The site itself has an attractive, almost magazine-like finish, adding kudos and authority to the release when published. Sign up is quick and easy and an unlimited number of links are allowed in the release. The site is divided into thematic sections so you can publish your PR into the most appropriate category simply by checking the corresponding box. You can also add pictures and tags, giving increased functionality and interest to your release.

3. PR USA (www.pr-usa.net)

With a PageRank of 5, PR USA has been around for a while now and is a proven publishing ground for online releases. The home page can be somewhat off-putting for newcomers as it is very text heavy with large tracts of content in the main section of the screen as well as in the left and right frames. Scroll all the way down to the bottom for log in and registration facilities. The site allows one link per PR but easy formatting means you can also pick out non-hyperlinked addresses in bold and draw attention to key selling points. Each item is reviewed so expect a slight delay in the piece going live.

4. Live PR (www.live-pr.com)

Site is available in both English and German so is useful if you are targeting a European market. The sign up process is easy and news is published on Google News, giving valuable exposure.

5. PR Inside (www.pr-inside.com)

A wide selection of press releases published on the home page of the site can give your submitted news a boost. The submission form is straightforward, although the category section is somewhat limited. The site does allow video clip submission to accompany the PR which can supplement the impact of the release. You can also post a photo and company logo, allowing for a totally branded submission.

6. My News Desk (www.mynewsdesk.com)

A self-described online content destination, My News Desk was founded by journalists and business specialists and allows for the exchange of news, press, releases, photos and more. The site offers a free 30-day trial of its paid plans or free submissions for life in a single specified industry sector and geographical area.

7. Press Release Point (www.pressreleasepoint.com)

With free and paid news distribution services, you can try Press Release Point at no cost and then upgrade to access more features if you decide to allocate a budget to PR distribution in future. Membership for free distribution is based on an analysis of your first PR, so be sure to submit a strong story, well written and formatted as a professional press release with the Who, What, Where, When and When. The first submitted PR is checked by an editor and if approved, a membership account opened for you.

8. Your Story (www.your-story.org)

Free to submit multiple press releases, Your Story currently has over 7,000 members and almost 14,000 published releases. Submission of unlimited PR releases is free but there is a small cost to include links, images and videos.

9. Free Press Release (www.free-press-release.com)

Although Free Press Release charges for the inclusion of an active URL, you can include the text of your web address for users to copy and paste or buy a link insertion for $1. The list of free features is extensive, with free PR submission including the option to add Technorati tags, immediate distribution, inclusion in RSS feeds, a results tracker, distribution to search engines and distribution to social media including Twitter.

10. Express Press Release (www.express-press-release.net)

Like most of the free services, Express Press Release also offers a paid distribution option, but the free offering is suitably generous for the small business with no limit on the number of active hyperlinks allowed in the text and space for company logos and pictures.

11. Release News (www.release-news.com)

Release News offers free worldwide distribution including submission to Google News. Anchor text, links and images are also free with the service.
